Event Organized by African Voices Magazine

African Voices is a non-profit literary arts magazine devoted to publishing and presenting work by artists of color.

Founded in 1992, African Voices will celebrate its 20th year anniversary in 2012.

The magazine has published more than 700 writers since its inception.

In celebration of Black History Month 2014, reg e gaines presents, "The Last Celebrity", a collage of video, poetry, music and monologue.

This non-linear look at reg's accidental brush with fame focuses on his rise from poet to writer of the Tony Award winning, Bring in da Noise/ Bring in da Funk.

The multimedia solo performance piece gives a dynamic view of Black History as process utilizing the vibrant energy of the current Spoken Word scene.

This performance workshop is an innovative way to celebrate Black History Month and remind our youth the importance of documenting their stories.

"The Last Celebrity" excites, entertains and educates while leaving audiences with memorable and magical moments.

The program is a fundraising event for African Voices magazine
